FEFKA Short film Fest Season 4 Announced

The official launch of the 4th FEFKA Short Film Fest organized by the FEFKA Directors Union was made by renowned Canadian director and Spirit of Cinema Award winner Kelly Fife Marshall at the International Film Festival of Kerala.

From this year, the FEFKA Short Film Fest, the largest competition platform for short films in Kerala, will award the best short film with a cash prize of Rs. 1.5 lakh (*150000/-*), Rs. 1 lakh (*100000/*.) for the second film, and Rs. 50,000 (*50,000/-*) for the third film, said Directors Union General Secretary G. S. Vijayan.
Dr. Biju introduced the chief guest, Kelly Fife Marshall, to the audience. Kelly Marshall, who has made a name for herself at international film festivals with her short film Black Bodies, shared her filmmaking experiences.

Film talents such as Kamal, TK Rajeevkumar, Shyama Prasad, Azhakappan, Kukku Parameswaran, Joshi Mathew, Sandeep Senan, Santosh Keezhattoor, Sreekumar Arukutty, Babu Pallassery, Ansiba, Neena Kurup, Saju Navodaya, V T Sreejith, Girishankar, Sajin Lal, Ouseppachan Valakuzhi, Santosh Pavithram, Unni Sivapal, Venu Gopal, Siddharth, Venu B Nair, Sajid Yahia, Anoop Raveendran, A S Dinesh and many other filmmakers attended the event.

FEFKA Working Secretary Sohan Seenulal welcomed the gathering and Directors Union Vice President Vidhu Vincent presided over the function. Short Film Committee Convener Salam Bapu proposed the vote of thanks. Joint Secretary Baijuraj Chekawar and Executive Committee members Manoj Aravindakshan, VC Abhilash, Joju Raphael and Shibu Parameswaran led the way.
The Best Director will be awarded Rs. Ten Thousand (*10000/-)*, while the Best Actor, Actress, Child Artist, Screenwriter, Cinematographer, Editor, Art Director, Music Director, Make-up Artist, Cost Designer, VFX Artist will be awarded Rs. Five Thousand (*5000/*) each, a statuette and a certificate of appreciation will be given to the *12* individual categories including.

Awards will be given in 5 categories namely General Category, Campus, Pravasi, AI Films and FEFKA Directors Union Members Category.

New governing body of the FEFKA Directors Union for the period 2025-26

In the election of the governing body of the FEFKA Directors Union for the period 2025-26, Renji Panicker (President), G. S. Vijayan (General Secretary), Shibu Gangadharan (Treasurer), Rafi and Vidhu Vincent (Vice Presidents), Ajay Vasudev and Baijuraj Chekavar (Joint Secretaries)Sophia Jose (Committee Member) were elected unopposed. 398 people cast their votes in the election held yesterday at the Kaloor Renewal Center.

FEFKA General Secretary B Unnikrishnan congratulated the office bearers and committee members. B Unnikrishnan, who is also the General Secretary of IFAC, the All India Confederation of Filmmakers, said that the 23-page organizational report presented at the general meeting is something that no other directors' union in India can claim.

FEFKA President Sibi Malayil said that it is a matter of hope that there are 12 new faces, including a woman vice president, in the 21-member executive committee. President Renji Panicker thanked the members for the great success of the general meeting and elections due to the participation and active discussions of the members. General Secretary G.S. Vijayan said in the first meeting of the new executive committee that the support of all committee members is needed to take the organization forward with new projects and responsibilities.

Directors and associate directors from all generations including Joshi, Bhadran Mattel, Sathyan Anthikad, K. Madhu, Shaji Kailas, Anwar Rasheed, Basil Joseph and others came to vote. The FEFKA Directors Union general meeting was enriched by the active presence of more than 500 members.
